Holiday Bowl 2004 | Official Website

History

In December, 1998, Mike Foristel and company, then freshman, challenged the sophomores at HHS to a winner take all football game at Parsons Memorial Elementary School. Some say it was the greatest game ever played due to a great snowstorm the sweeped Harrison on the eve of the game. Nevertheless, the sophomores won 14-12 (i swear that was the score) and the "Holiday Bowl" was born. The next year, the juniors won again, captained by Matt Miller, as the game was played at Congress Street park. In 2000, however, the tide turned as the class of 2002, beat the senior class in a bad way, 12-5. One of the most memorable events on record was the goal line stand of one Billy Herron to ignite the juniors. The next year, a new match-up was born as Rudy Arcara's junior class played the class of 2002. Mike Foristel was sent to the hospital with a separated shoulder. The juniors would end up with the victory that year. The following year in 2002, fresh off a New York State Championship, the seniors led by Steve Burton and Pete Kohlasch dominated the hasbeen college freshman team 10-2. It was the most lopsided victory in pick-up sports history. That brings us up to last year (2003). Mike Foristel's team got back into the win column as they defeated Pippo's team in the rain at Harrison High School. So dating back to last year, in the major bowl games, the 2004 Turkey Bowl and 2003 Holiday Bowl, Pippo has been on the losing end to Foristel.

Throughout the years, the Holiday Bowl has been the biggest game in the pick up football season. It should be no different this year as Pippo's boys look for revenge and to silence some critics as people were calling for a change at the QB position on turkey bowl thursday. Stay tuned to see what happens in this greatly anticipated game.
